To sum up diving at Situ: Warm crystal clear water, breathtaking underwater scenery and abundant marine life. The dive sites are close to the lodge and a comfortable boat ride over calm blue waters on a lovely spacious catamaran.
We dived at “The Colosseum” which is an underwater amphitheatre of sea-life. I could have spent hours and hours exploring the coral and sea-life. Every inch is alive with creatures big and small. The most beautiful coral filled with nudibranches, giant clams, moray eels, anemones with their resident clown fish and thousands of fish swarming over the colourful coral – everywhere you look is a treasure to be found.
We had a very special treat to be greeted by a pod of dolphins who came curiously past us and a regal turtle swam right by me, quite unconcerned with this bubble blowing anomaly in it’s domain. The colours and sheer abundance of life is mind-blowing! The next dive was the “The Wall”, which comprises of a coral shelf at about 12m and the edge plummets straight down into the depths below.
We swam along the side of the wall and the coral is absolutely spectacular, with massive fan corals and whip corals swaying in the gentle waters. The wall is full of life and looking out towards the great blue sea we could see shoals of Giant Trevally and other pelagic species prowling the deeper waters. I had the most amazing feeling of how very small we are in such a big world. The diving experience at Situ is absolutely superb and I can’t wait to go back.
